Holiday Security Tips

While most of us are preparing for joyous gatherings with family and friends, fraudsters are taking advantage of this busy time to catch people off guard.

Here are some tips to help keep you safe during the holidays.

Traveling
*Keep an eye on your laptop at all times. At busy airports, it could be easy for a thief to steal your computer.
*Avoid using your laptop in public places. Someone may be behind you, watching your keystrokes in an attempt to gain information.
*Use a plain laptop bag, or better yet, something that does not resemble a laptop bag.

Shopping
*Keep your card in view. Do not let a store employee leave your line of sight with the card, as fraudsters can swipe it to get valuable information.
*When using your debit card, prevent others from watching you enter your PIN.
*Be leery of deals sent to you by e-mail. Do not click on suspicious offers from unknown sellers, as phishing schemes are very popular this time of the year.
